The seed of Shanti School Alumni Association-SSAA has been sown on 21 Mangsir 2064 when there was a gathering to mourn on the demise of Guru Jagadish Prasad Upadhyay, the then Head Master of Shree Shanti Model Secondary School-SMSS, Manigram. It was the 12th day of the demise of Jagadish Guru (students used to call him by this name). The gathering was organized at Koteshwor where hundreds of ex-students of Shanti Model Secondary School, Manigram remembered Jagadish Guru for his extra ordinary contributions for the education. The same gathering offered deep condolences to late Guru Jagadish Prasad Upadhyay and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family members. The gathering offered an exclusive environment for the reconciliation and share the past days of school among peers. Then there were two proposals; first was to establish Shanti School Alumni Association-SSAA and the second was to offer appreciation to the people who dedicated their time and efforts in the upliftment of the school. In this regard, the gathering decided to establish a scholarship with the name- ‘Guru Jagadish Prasad Upadhyay Memorial Alumni Association Scholarship’. From the interest of this fund, the genuine SEE graduate girls from SMSS are awarded for perusing in grade 11 and 12. Following the successful events for more than a decade, SSAA established ‘AAMA-BABA Scholarship’. The interest coming from this scholarship fund is awarded to the visually impaired students graduating SEE from Shanti Model Secondary School (SMSS), Manigram for perusing in grade 11 and 12 in SMSS. There is also ‘Special Treatment Fund’ for the treatment of very needy students of SMSS. The SSAA organizes two events each year to bring its members together. One of the events is being regularly held on Falgun 7, Democracy Day. Since BS 2076, the event is being held on the first Saturday of each Falgun month. The second gathering is being held during the onset of major festival time to organize AGM and to exchange the greetings for Dashain, Tihar, Chhath, Nepal Sambat and others. From 2076 BS, SSAA has been organizing Grand Reconciliation Program in SMSS. During the same time, a get together program is also organized in Banbatika, Shankarnagar. The Grand Reconciliation Programs have been organized in 2076 and 2078 BS. In the same time ‘Shanti Smarika’ collection of the personnel events relating to SMSS have been published in the Grand Reconcilialtion Program. The SSAA alumni members who have contributed for the country are regularly being felicitated during these events. During the same time, the teachers who served SMSS are also honored for their life long service to SMSS. This way SSAA is becoming a popular place in bringing its peers together and serving the mother institution through different aspects.
